Graduating with a Masters in Naval Architecture, John joined the UK Ministry of Defence. In 1991 John moved to Shell to serve as a Naval Architect in LNG and Oil tanker design and construction., before becoming Shell's Global Marine Manager, overseeing maritime staff worldwide. In 2011, John took on his current role where he has responsibility for the standards of safety and assurance of Shell’s global maritime activity and is also the Chief Engineer for Shell’s Maritime Technical Function.
Paolo joined Stolt Tankers as General Manager of Technical & Innovation before being promoted to Managing Director Shipowning. Paolo has been managed various newbuilding, conversion and major repair projects in China, Korea and Western Europe as well as ship management across vessel types. Paolo graduated has a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
Kenneth McConnell is a master mariner and joined Northern Marine in 1995 with 21 years sea-going experience on many different vessel types. Before being appointed as Marine Compliance Director in 2012, Kenneth held various positions with Northern Marine including Global Manning Manager for an oil major fleet and three years as President of Northern Marine USA LLC.
As Chief Technical Officer at Maersk Tankers, Tommy has responsibility for ensuring high vessel and IT performance. Before starting at Maersk Tankers, Tommy held positions as Senior VP at J. Lauritzen and Managing Director of Maritime Solutions. Tommy holds an MBA in Management of Technology.
After almost 2 decades aboard Tankers, including as a Master Mariner, Manit worked as an independent consultant managing cost efficiency, sales optimisation and growth strategy. Manit moved into Shell Shipping & Maritime as Strategy Manager where he began to develop HiLo. As HiLo CEO, and a sailor himself, Manit is passionate about championing the needs and safety of seafarers. Manit holds an MBA from London Business School in Strategy and Finance.
Andy Cross joins HiLo with 25 years' experience in the maritime industry. During his career at sea, Andy worked on a variety of vessel types. After becoming a Master, Andy transitioned into technical vessel management positions ashore with Maersk Tankers A/S. Prior to joining HiLo, Andy led a global team of employees involved in operations, vetting, safety and audit.
Previously Director at UBS for Cyber Defence and End User Tools, the Engineering Lead for JP Morgan Chase and then EMEA Director - Enterprise Services Lead at JLL. A Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Ryan has a BSc in Mathematics with Computer Science and Informatics.
Andy Franks has over 25 years’ experience in risk assessment, particularly with respect to high - hazard industries. After a period in the chemical industry, he began working on risk assessments as a consultant with AEA Technology Consultancy Services. Andy later worked as a specialist inspector in the Major Hazards Assessment Unit with the UK Government’s Health and Safety Executive, joining Lloyd’s Register Consulting in 2010.
